Preparing the Family

Designate a Safe Haven
Set aside a room in your home where you can escape from the chaos and commotion.

Guard Against Dust
During a remodeling project, dust has the unfortunate tendency to appear everywhere - on lampshades, on clothes, and even between plates stacked inside your kitchen cabinets. We will often prepare the home for dusty conditions by sealing off doorways and stairs, turning off central heat or air during work hours and covering or removing anything that might get damaged by the dust.

Designate storage
Deliveries are made through a designated entrance and inspected for accuracy prior to storage for use. Just-in-time delivery can cause a major delay if the material is damaged or incorrect. We generally schedule delivery of materials 3 days to 2 weeks in advance of having it installed.

Maintain a Sense of Humor
You may need it when the weather refuses to cooperate, materials are delayed or if the plumber accidentally crosses up the hot and cold pipes to your shower. Just be assured, these things can and do happen. Know that we will use due diligence to take care of the situation and keep the project moving.

Enjoy the Remodeling Process
Tell children you are "camping-in" and turn inconvenience into fun. Along the way, celebrate at the completion of phases of the project; for example, splurge on your favorite take-out food when the sheetrock finally goes up.
