Throw away your hot water heater!

...and save on your water heating bill. The energy loss from standby heating - energy used to keep the water hot until you are ready to use it - accounts for hundreds of dollars a year in utility bills for the average US household. (Total water heating costs typically account for approximately 14% of the average household energy budget in the US.)

Tankless water heaters are designed to provide hot water at a preset temperature, on demand; this feature eliminates standby losses. Tankless water heaters are designed with an electric, gas, or propane heating device that automatically activates when the water is turned on, and provide a continuous supply of hot water for as long as you desire. The capacity of the heater determines how much water you can expect at a given maximum temperature. Gas units usually heat water more efficiently than electric models.

Tankless water heaters come in a variety of sizes. Some units are designed for whole house use and will be installed centrally, while other, smaller units can be installed under a sink or in a closet near the outlet.
